The City of Westminster residents have developed a standard that determines their desires for the appearance of the community. These community standards are communicated to the City Council by the citizens of Westminster. The City Council then implements those standards through the adoption of Municipal Codes and Ordinances.
These standards, established by you, the people of Westminster, determine what the rules and proper maintenance of homes and businesses should be in the community in order to ensure that we can live peacefully together in a quality environment.
The Westminster Code Enforcement staff work to ensure that these levels of expectation are met, and that neighborhoods and property values are preserved and maintained through the enforcement of the City’s Municipal Code.
Code Enforcement Officers examine properties either in response to a complaint or as part of an on-going proactive program. Businesses or property owners not in compliance are given an opportunity to correct the violations voluntarily. However, if failure to comply with the Municipal Code can result in fines and legal action. It is our goal to educate and work cooperatively with the residents and businesses of the community we serve, in order to meet the community’s standards and create a pleasant quality of life for everyone in Westminster.
