Election Information

General municipal elections are held on the first Tuesday after the first Monday in November of even-numbered years.(WMC §2.04.10)

The City Council is made up of a Mayor and four Council Members, for a total of five members.  These positions are elected by Westminster Voters at large, and elections are held every two years.  The offices of Mayor and City Council are non-partisan.

The Mayor serves a term of two years (currently expiring in 2012), while Council Members each serve a four-year term.  Terms for Council Member Fry & Mayor Pro Tem Diep will expire in 2012 and Council Member Quach and Council Member Ta will expire in 2014. 

To be eligible to be elected to the office of Mayor or Council Member, a candidate must be a qualified voter and resident of the City at the time nomination papers are issued. (EC §201)
