The City has a comprehensive Emergency Management Plan which will provide guidance for the City of Westminster's response to extraordinary emergency situations. This plan concentrates on the management, concept and response procedures relative to large-scale disasters. Such disasters pose threats to life, the environment and property and can impact the well-being of large numbers of people.
The City provides training opportunities for its employees. Training and exercises are an important part of being prepared for an emergency. The City works cooperatively with other agencies and business to assure that as a community we are prepared. This slide show is from the most recent joint drill with the Westminster Mall. As you can see by the photos, it was an intensive drill with many agencies and volunteers participating.
The operation of the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) is the responsibility of certain members of the City staff, as set forth by the State of California Standard Emergency Management System (SEMS). Westminster's EOC is in the Community Services Building and is multi-functional. The majority of the time it is used for recreation classes and reserved by the community. During an emergency, the room is converted into an emergency operations center, serving as the focal point for emergency personnel during a disaster.
The California Emergency Management Agency (CalEMA) Office of Emergency Services can also be accessed for important Statewide operations and information.
