Keep America Beautiful! And Westminster Too! Held in conjunction with the national beautification program and Earth Day, this program invites all residents and groups throughout the City to get involved in the annual clean-up and beautification program. Volunteers lend a hand in “sprucing up” parks, school grounds, churches, and their homes and neighborhoods during a week in April. To become involved, please contact the department.
Flag Day Our annual Flag Day Celebration is held in the Civic Center located at 8200 Westminster Blvd. The event includes patriotic music and remarks. Refreshments are provided and families are encouraged to bring their children to this meaningful patriotic event. This year's event will be held on Tuesday, June 14th.
Summer Concerts in the Park On Thursday nights in the summer, the Civic Center Sunken Gardens is the place to be. The community can enjoy a variety of free concerts held from 6:00 – 7:30 p.m. and be entertained by classic rock & blues, big band, rock-n-roll, country, and Westminster's own Nicholson Pipes & Drums. Safety Day The annual Public Safety Day event will be held on Wednesday, July 27 at Sigler Park, 7200 Plaza St. from 11:30 am - 1:30 pm. This fun & educational summer event provides children and their families an opportunity to become familiar with the City's safety staff and services. The Westminster Explorer Scouts provide services such as bicycle licensing and fingerprinting. In addition, Westminster Police Department and Orange County Fire Authority will display vehicles and equipment and present exciting demonstrations. Staff will also be on hand to answer all your safety questions. Dia de la Familia Hosted annually by the Westminster City Council, this “Day of the Family” provides an opportunity for residents and surrounding communities to participate in a cultural celebration of family and friends. The event is held at Sigler Park, 7200 Plaza Street, on Sunday, September 11th at 1:00 p.m. Tree Lighting Ceremony Join us on Monday, December 5th at 6:00 p.m. in the Civic Center Sunken Gardens for the annual Holiday Treee Lighting Ceremony. We will light the tree, sing carols, restock the “food closets” for the needy, and of course...be visited by Santa Claus himself. Please join the City in this joyful holiday event. Breakfast with Santa Santa Claus will make a special visit to Westminster on Saturday, December 3 to have breakfast with children and their families. The event is a tradition with many Westminster residents and reservations sell out quickly. After a visit with Santa and a tasty breakfast, enjoy a morning of arts and crafts. Add your address to the list of festive homes adorned with personal touches of Christmas. To add your home to the Holiday Home Decorating list please submit by email a digital photo of your home and your address to csronline@westminster-ca.gov. Write a Letter to Santa Children are invited to write a letter to Santa, and receive a personally answered response!! Each year, more than 500 letters are received and answered. Send your letters to Santa by December 16 to the Community Services & Recreation Department, 8200 Westminster Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683 . Be sure to include a return address.
