The Westminster Police Department provides an on-line crime mapping process which provides you the ability to see what types of crimes are occurring in your area. We currently use a system called CRIMEREPORTS.com. Just click on the icon below:
The data used for our on-line mapping system is from our Records Management System. Many residents, real estate agents and students utilize this on-line feature to gain a better understanding of the crimes in a particular and surrounding location.
The Westminster Police Department also collects crime information on a monthly basis and submits the statistics to the Department of Justice (DOJ) and the FBI. Most police agencies participate in the Uniform Crime Reporting system to maintain consistency in reporting certain crimes. The crimes that are required for collection are called "Part I Crimes". Part I Crimes include: Homicide, Rape, Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Burglary (Residential and Commercial), Larceny/Theft (including Vehicle Burglary), and Automobile Theft. For more detailed information you may view Part I Crime Definitions. All other crimes not categorized in the Part 1 Crimes are considered Part 2 crimes. Thefollowing information is tracked internally by Crime Analysis and may slightly differ from what is submitted to the DOJ and FBI.
If you are interested in viewing the crime statistics for your neighborhood, we have provided a map with our Patrol Areas and the corresponding statistics for each Patrol Area. The city is broken down by Patrol Area to help track crime statistics and patrol the neighborhoods more effectively. To determine what neighborhood you are interested in, we have provided a map for your use. Once you have determined the appropriate Patrol Area you may view the statistics included.
