Explorer Program

Young adults interested in law enforcement can volunteer their time at the police department to gain work experience. Explorers work part-time in the department to gain first-hand knowledge of what a career in law enforcement might be like. Explorer volunteers help with traffic control at public events, learn to take fingerprints, do all bike licensing, and may even conduct roof-top surveillance of automobiles in parking lots! Youth between 14 and 21 years of age enrolled in high school or college may be eligible by meeting minimum grade point average requirements and passing a background check for past delinquency. A written application and an interview are required for consideration in this program. Youth interested in participating should call Officer Paul Walker at 898-3315, extension 3860.
