Construction Update

Street construction and/or road closures will be occurring at the following locations:

Westminster Channel Improvements by the County of Orange

The County of Orange has recently awarded the subject project to Belczak and Sons, Inc. The project proposes to construct a 10’W x 9.5’H reinforced concrete box under Hoover Street, a double 12’W x 6’H reinforced concrete box under Hazard Avenue, and replacing the existing concrete trapezoidal channel with a 37’W x 8.5’H rectangular concrete channel. The project limit is from Beach Boulevard to Hoover Street. Said improvements are essential to provide 100-year flood protection for local residents.

The proposed double reinforced concrete box will occupy the area under the south side of Hazard Avenue. In order to provide an adequate and protected work zone, the contractor has requested permission to close eastbound traffic on Hazard Avenue from Beach Boulevard to Hoover Street for the duration of the project, i.e. 250 working days. Traffic will have access to the concrete plant, the Church, Cedarwood Street, the apartment complex, and the Chamber of Commerce building. Access for the Midway City Sanitation District building will be provided via Cedarwood Street.

City-Wide Cape and Slurry Seal Project

All American Asphalt will slurry three remaining residential streets this Thursday, July 15, and will begin the punch list items shortly thereafter. All driveways will remain open.

Hazard Avenue Storm Drain Improvements

BRH Garver West is currently installing double 60-inch storm drain pipes for the duration of one month. In order to provide an adequate and protected work zone, the contractor was granted permission to close westbound traffic on Hazard Avenue from Beach Boulevard to Hoover Street for two months. Traffic will have access to the concrete plant, the Church, the apartment complex, and the Chamber of Commerce building. Access for the Midway City Sanitation District building will be provided via Cedarwood Street.

City-Wide CTB 09-10 Improvements

R.J. Noble is currently cement treating Webber Place, Baylor Drive, Iroquois Road, and Seneca Drive this week and will allow seven days for curing. All driveways will remain open.
