Purpose
The Cultural Arts Commission may make recommendations on policies pertaining to arts programs, cultural affairs, the Cultural Arts Center and fund development; give due attention and study to the arts and cultural affairs and the development of facilities as they affect the people of Westminster; stimulate community interest in cultural arts (visual and performing); interpret the cultural needs of the community; encourage individuals, citizen groups and the business community to donate time, funds, and in-kind services for the development and implementation of programs, special events, projects and facilities; and serve as a sounding board to which the City Council may test their plans and ideas. Organization
Each City Council Member shall appoint one Cultural Arts Commission member and one alternate member. These members will then serve at the pleasure of the appointing city council member. An alternate member shall attend meetings and vote in the absence of the regular member for whom the alternate was appointed.Any citizen of the City of Westminster may serve. Meetings
Meets at least six times per year or at the pleasure of the City Council. The Commissioners meet on the first Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m. in the council chambers conference room. Click here for the next meeting agenda.
