Tyler Diep was first elected to the Westminster City Council in 2008 and served until 2012. After a two-year hiatus, voters overwhelmingly returned him to City Hall in the General Election of 2014. Tyler is currently serving as Mayor Pro Tem as of December 14, 2016.
Concurrently Tyler is also an elected Director of the Midway City Sanitary District (MCSD), a special district charged with providing sewage treatment and trash collection in Westminster and Midway City. In 2012, Tyler’s colleagues selected him to represent MCSD on the Orange County Sanitation District.
Tyler Diep also possesses a background in broadcasting. His experience included working as a news anchor/reporter for a television station in Fountain Valley and two radio programs in Westminster.
Tyler began his public service in 2005, working for the California State Assembly. In that position, Tyler had the opportunity to assist people with state-related services.
In his full time job, Tyler is employed as an Outreach Service Specialist for the California State Board of Equalization. In this role, Tyler works closely with agencies like the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), Franchise Tax Board (FTB), and Employment Development Department (EDD) to ensure that small business owners have a basic understanding of tax laws.
As a homeowner in Westminster, Tyler recognize the importance of keeping our neighborhoods safe and clean to enhance properties value. In his 2nd term, Tyler will emphasize on hiring more police officers and repaving our roads.
Tyler earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Public Administration from California State University, San Diego.
In 2012, the California State Senate issued a Resolution of Recognition to honor Tyler Diep for his service to the people of Westminster.
