Area Variance Committee

Purpose:

The Area Variance Committee considers applications for variances solely from fence or yard setback requirements, or for the relocation of buildings within the City, as well as applications for temporary use of land for such purposes as the parking of construction trailers or storage of building materials during construction. (WMC Section 17.56; Resolution No. 3601)

Organization:

Composed of the Planning Official or his/her designated alternate; the Building Official or his/her designated alternate; and a Westminster resident not currently serving on a city commission or committee, preferably with experience in building, construction, or land use planning (i.e., architect, contractor, developer) and an alternate.

Meetings:

Meets regularly, twice a month, when there are applications to be considered, or at the call of the Chair of the committee.
