Now Accepting Nominations: Small Business of the Year

May is just around the corner, and the City of Westminster is preparing to celebrate Small Business Month! For the third year, we're proud to recognize the local businesses that help our community thrive through our Small Business of the Year program.

Now accepting nominations for 2026 Small Business of the Year! Help us celebrate outstanding Westminster businesses making a difference in our local economy and community. Five small businesses will be selected for recognition by the Mayor and each City Council Member.

Nomination Deadline: Monday, May 4, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.

Honoree Notification: By Thursday, May 7, 2026

Recognition Ceremony: Wednesday, May 13, 2026 City Council Meeting

To nominate a Westminster small business, please complete and submit the Nomination Form. You may submit this form via e-mail or hand delivery:

In Person: Linh Doan at City Hall, 8200 Westminster Blvd., Westminster, CA 92683 (Open Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.)

Eligibility Criteria

Nominated businesses must meet the following criteria to be eligible for recognition:

  • The business must have 100 or fewer employees, have its primary location in Westminster, and be in good standing with an active business license.
  • The business may not be owned by City officials or their immediate families (includes spouse, child, parent, grandparent, cousin, niece, nephew, uncle, or aunt), candidates running for office, or City employees.
  • The business must have been in operation for at least three years.
  • The business must demonstrate one or more of the following: business growth (increased sales, profitability, expansion), industry innovation, and/or economic support for the City.
  • The nominee must demonstrate community and/or charitable involvement.

Self-nominations will not be accepted or acknowledged. Late submissions will not be accepted.
