Evacuation Update: May 22

Mandatory evacuation order in portions of northwest Westminster.
Post Date:05/22/2026 12:30 PM

The Westminster Police Department and the City of Westminster are aware of the ongoing chemical incident response occurring in the City of Garden Grove. Emergency responders from multiple agencies continue working to address the situation safely. As a precautionary measure, the mandatory evacuation area has expanded to include portions of northwest Westminster. The current mandatory evacuation has expanded from Valley View Street to Dale Avenue from Ball Road to Trask Avenue.

Westminster PD personnel are assisting residents within the impacted area and coordinating closely with partner agencies. While the mandatory evacuation area remains limited, residents throughout the surrounding area are encouraged to stay informed and take reasonable precautions as conditions evolve.

WAGS, located at 6621 Westminster Boulevard, has offered to shelter animals for affected residents. The Westminster Senior Center is also open to residents who require a safe place, though space is limited. Residents are encouraged to explore other available sheltering options if possible.

Residents are encouraged to review the latest evacuation map and follow X.com/OCFireAuthority for the most current emergency updates. For additional information, you may also contact the hotline at 714-628-7085. View the interactive evacuation zone map on the OC Sheriff's website.

We appreciate the community’s patience and cooperation as first responders continue their efforts to protect public safety.
