Orange County Mosquito and Vector Control District (OCMVCD) has confirmed mosquito samples infected with West Nile Virus in the City of Westminster. The surveillance traps were set in area bounded by Hazard Ave., Magnolia St., Bolsa Ave., and Newland St.

Inspectors will be in the area to check known sources of mosquito breeding and to try to identify any unknown sources. If OCMVCD continues to receive positive mosquito samples, adult mosquito control may be conducted in the future. OCMVCD will continue to monitor and communicate West Nile Virus positive activity in the coming weeks. Residents, employees, and visitors are advised to take precautions by wearing mosquito repellent when West Nile Virus mosquitoes are most active (dawn or dusk), checking for standing water, and protecting themselves from mosquito bites.
