The City of Westminster has released its July Emergency Preparedness Bulletin, providing residents with important safety information for the Fourth of July holiday and summer season.

July is Fireworks Safety Month. The use of illegal fireworks can result in significant fines and puts lives, homes, pets, and property at risk. Residents can report illegal fireworks by visiting www.westminster-ca.gov/fireworks, calling the fireworks hotline at 714-898-3315, ext. 4686, or using the City of Westminster mobile app.

Residents with pets are encouraged to review Fourth of July pet safety tips ahead of the holiday. Pets often escape during fireworks events. If your pet gets out, you can text a message and image to WAGS at 714-887-6156 for assistance.

The bulletin also reinforces water safety for the summer season. OCFA reminds residents to follow the ABCs of Water Safety: Active Adult Supervision, Barriers such as pool fences and covers, and Classes and CPR training. A child can drown in as little as two minutes, and drowning is silent and preventable.
