Construction of the Mendez Freedom Trail has begun.  Among other improvements on the corridor, the Mendez Freedom Trail project will reduce the lanes on Hoover Street from four through lanes to two through lanes (one in each direction with a center turn lane). The lane reduction on Hoover will be between Garden Grove Boulevard and Bolsa Avenue to construct a two-way protected bikeway and install raised landscaped medians.

Crews will begin set up of the lane reductions on Friday, November 22, 2024, starting on Hoover at Garden Grove Boulevard and extending south to Bolsa Avenue.

The Mendez Freedom Trail will be a new multi-use pathway designed to enhance connectivity, providing a safer route for pedestrians and cyclists, and offer a beautiful, green space for the community. Stay informed and plan your commute accordingly.

The project’s estimated completion date is Fall 2025.
