Westminster Library February Programs

February kicks off with the library's annual Tet Celebration, welcoming the year of the horse.

There is a lot to celebrate in February! February kicks off with the library's annual Tet Celebration, welcoming the year of the horse. The fun does not stop there, fans of K-Pop Demon Hunters can join in the activities inspired by the movie and Pokémon fans can help celebrate the 30th Anniversary with activities for budding Pokémon trainers. Adults can create a watercolor valentine with art instructor Claudia, and teens can start improving their cooking skills with making pancakes. Come join the celebration!

Campfire Storytime has a new day and time: Thursdays at 5:00 p.m. beginning February 5!

Programs for Children:

Sew Cool Creations! Kids’ Sewing – Wednesday, February 4 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Pre-cut felt pieces and plastic needles make hand sewing accessible and fun for beginners. Perfect for children ages 7 +.Younger kids can join in with adult supervision or try out our simpler paper sewing activities.

Kid Builder Activities – Friday, February 6 at 10:30 a.m. Join us on the first Friday of each month for a fun-filled learning experience! Together with First 5 Orange County, we will offer activates that support your child's developmental milestones.

It’s a K-Pop Demon Hunter Party! – Wednesday, February 11 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Huntr/x and Saja Boy fans are taking over the library! Enjoy a variety of crafts and activities inspired by the movie, perfect for fans of all ages.

Totally Untidy Toddlers – Wednesday, February 18 at 10:30 a.m. Join us for a fun-filled session where your little ones can explore, get messy, and learn through play.

30 Years of Pokémon – Wednesday, February 25 from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Pokémon has been inspiring trainers for 30 years! Visit the library to celebrate with activities, crafts, and fun for Pokémon fans of all ages.

Homework Help - Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. while school is in session: Students from 1st grade to middle school can ask for live homework help from our friendly Teen Advisory Board tutors!

Programs for Families:

LEGO Club – New time! Fridays from 3:30 – 4:30 p.m. Come play with our LEGO and DUPLO bricks or build amazing structures with our KEVA planks. We provide the materials; you provide the creativity. Fun for the whole family.

Westminster Lunar New Year Celebration_TV Slide

Tet Celebration – Saturday, February 7 from 10:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m. Join the Westminster Library as we celebrate the Lunar New Year, the year of the horse, with a Lion Dance, cultural performances, crafts for all ages, a traditional beverage from our Charlie Cart, and all attendees receive lucky red envelopes with a chance to win a prize!

Music Appreciation Series: Chinese Zither Performance by Bei Bei – Tuesday, February 24 from 4:00 – 5:00 p.m. Join us for a music appreciation series. Music lovers of all ages are invited to visit the library and enjoy a performance by one of the of world’s premier guzheng (Chinese zither) musicians, Bei Bei. No registration required, all ages welcome.

Programs for Adults:

Fiber Arts Group – Tuesdays from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Do you knit or crochet? Or would you like some help learning? Bring your own projects. All fiber arts welcome! This group is open to all levels. Some supplies provided.

Drop In Tech Help – Tuesdays from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. Need help with your phone or computer? This program is offered as walk-in only, first come, first served.

Watercolor for Adults – Monday, February 9 at 4:00 p.m. Adults are invited to join art instructor, Claudia as she walks participants through creating a watercolor valentine themed painting. For ages 18+. Space is limited to the first 20 adults. Sponsored by the Friends of the Westminster Library.

Adult Book Group – Tuesday, February 24 from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. A book club for adults that meets the fourth Tuesday of the month. This month we’ll discuss Klara and the Sun by Kazuo Ishiguro. Limited copies of the book available at the front desk

Programs for Teens:

Teen Advisory Board Presents: Dried Flower Bookmarks – Saturday, February 14 at 3:00 p.m. Design your own bookmark with dried and pressed flowers. All materials provided.

Teen Volunteer Orientation – Wednesday, February 18 at 4:00 p.m. Want to volunteer at the library? We are recruiting! Current opportunities are for Library Helpers, Homework Helpers, and Teen Advisory Board (TAB) Members. All volunteers must attend an orientation prior to volunteering.

Cooking Basics: Pancakes – Saturday, February 28 from 2:00 – 3:00 p.m. Learn the basics of cooking with pancakes! Experiment with toppings to make the perfect dish. No registration required.
