Home MenuAffordable Housing
To best address affordable housing needs within the city, the City Council of the City of Westminster activated the Westminster Housing Authority (WHA) on February 9, 2011, with findings that unsafe or unsanitary housing conditions exist, and that there is a shortage of safe and sanitary housing.
Westminster Housing Authority as the Redevelopment Housing Successor
In 2012, following the dissolution of the former Westminster Redevelopment Agency (RDA), the Westminster Housing Authority (WHA) was designated as the Housing Successor for redevelopment housing functions. The WHA is responsible for increasing, improving, and preserving the community’s supply of low and moderate income housing available at affordable housing costs.
Below is a list of projects the WHA has provided financial assistance to facilitate the development of rent-restricted housing throughout the City.
AB 987 Report
In accordance with the Health and Safety Code Section 33418 and AB 987, the WHA is required to compile and maintain a database of existing, new, and substantially rehabilitated housing units developed or otherwise assisted with funds from the former RDA's Low and Moderate Income Housing Fund. The link below contains a list of affordable housing developments assisted by the Westminster Housing Authority.
