- The traffic lights are out.
  You can report malfunctioning traffic lights 24 hours a day, 7 days a week to the Police Department at 714/898-3315 x326, or during normal business hours to Public Works - Engineering at (714) 548-3457 or (714) 548-3462.
- What are the city restrictions on operating oversized vehicles?
  The operator of any oversized or overweight vehicle must obtain a special permit from the Traffic Engineering department at City Hall to operate the vehicle within the city. WMC 10.44.250. No commercial vehicle may be parked on any city street in excess of 2 hours, except when loading or unloading, or in the performance of a service.

- Are street sweeping restrictions enforced on holidays?
  No. Streets are not swept on City observed holidays. Visit our Street Sweeping webpage for further information.
- How do I dispose bulky items?
  The Midway Sanitation District provides a monthly bulky item service for the disposal of some appliances and furniture, and will collect two such items from each household approximately every thirty days. For more details, please call (714) 893-3553 or visit the Midway Sanitation District website.

- How do I dispose of a Christmas tree?
  Midway Sanitation will send out vehicles to pick up your holiday tree for the first two weeks after Christmas. Place your tree on the curb on your regular trash service day and make sure the stand and all decorations are removed.

  If the items are located in the public right of way (sidewalk, street, park, etc.), please call the City of Westminster Corporation Yard at (714) 895-2876. If the items are located on private property, please contact Code Enforcement at (714) 548-3246. You can also submit a report online using the free My Westminster mobile app.

  The Mayor and City Council are dedicated to displaying the American flag at all municipal facilities and at various other locations throughout the City. If you see a flag that has been damaged or needs to be replaced, please contact the Public Works Maintenance Department at (714) 548-3252.

- What are the fares for the bus/subway/light rail systems?
  Transportation information can be found on the Orange County Transportation Authority's website.
- What happens if my trash day falls on a holiday?
  If your regular trash day falls on a holiday that is observed by the Midway City Sanitation District, your trash will be picked up the following day. The remainder of the week will also be picked up one day later, with Friday pick up occurring on Saturday. If you have any questions regarding trash pick up, you may contact Midway City Sanitation District at (714) 893-3553.
- What is the street sweeping schedule for my neighborhood?
  The days and times for street sweeping are posted at the entrance to each residential area off the main streets. You may also contact the City of Westminster Corporation Yard at (714) 895-2876. See the link below for a map showing the days for street sweeping throughout the city.

- Where are the bus stops located?
  Transportation information can be found on the Orange County Transportation Authority's website.
- Where can I get sandbags?
  Sandbags are available at the City Yard, 14381 Olive Street, Westminster during inclement weather. Sandbags are limited to 12 per resident and identification is required.
- Where can I obtain traffic count information?
  City-wide flow maps can be obtained at the Public Works counter from the Traffic Engineering Division for a nominal fee. If all you need is the traffic volume at one or two locations, you can call Traffic Engineering at (714) 548-3464, or (714) 548-3465.
- Who do I contact about a broken sidewalk?

Maintenance Division
- Can I trim or cut down my parkway tree?
  No. Trees located in the parkway are City trees. These trees are trimmed according to a predetermined schedule. Visit the City's tree page.
- I need to have the colored curb repainted.

- I want to report a gas leak.
  Residential customers should contact The Gas Company at (800) 427-2200.
  
  Industrial-Commercial customers should contact The Gas Company at (800) 427-2000.

- I would like to buy a city vehicle at auction.
  Any information about purchasing a city vehicle at auction may be obtained through the City of Westminster's Fleet Superintendent at (714) 548-3688.
- My street sign is missing or damaged.

- The pavement is damaged.

Water Division
- I want to report bad tasting/looking water.
  Please contact Public Works-Water Division at (714) 548-3699 or (714) 548-3694.
- They are flushing hydrants in my area and my water turned brown! Is that safe?
  Your water is safe. Though the sediment may discolor your water, it is not harmful. This is normal during flushing of the water system. If your water is discolored during flushings, discontinue use and resume after your water runs clear. This could take up to two hours after flushing stops. The Water Division recommends you avoid showering and washing clothes during the hours they are flushing in your area until your water runs clear. Even though the water is safe to drink, the color in the water could discolor clothes.
- What should I do if there is a water main break, pressure problems, leaks, or questions about the quality of the water?
  Please contact our Water Division crew at (714) 895-2876, Monday through Friday, from 6:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. For after hours and weekends water emergencies, contact the Westminster Police Department at (714) 898-3315. They will then contact emergency stand-by personnel.
