The City Council has designated May as Small Business Month in the City of Westminster to recognize the vital contributions of local small businesses to the community, while promoting economic growth and support for local entrepreneurs.

Nomination Process

Nominations for 2026 are now closed and will reopen in 2027. City Council members will each select one honoree from the nomination pool. The 2027 nomination form will be posted here in the spring.

Eligibility Criteria

Nominated businesses must meet the following criteria to be eligible for recognition:

• The business must have 100 or fewer employees, have its primary location in Westminster, and be in good standing with an active business license.
• The business may not be owned by City officials or their immediate families (includes spouse, child, parent, grandparent, cousin, niece, nephew, uncle, or aunt), candidates running for office, or City employees.
• The business must have been in operation for at least three years.
• The business must demonstrate one or more of the following: business growth (increased sales, profitability, expansion), industry innovation, and/or economic support for the City.
• The nominee must demonstrate community and/or charitable involvement.

Self-nominations will not be accepted or acknowledged. Late submissions will not be accepted.
