NEXT SCHEDULED ELECTION: April 7, 2020 Special Municipal Election
The City Clerk serves as the local elections official and processes nominations for mayor and city council candidates. The City Clerk also accepts campaign finance filings as the local filing officer and administers elections for ballot measures on city matters.
The Westminster General Municipal Election is held every two years, coinciding with the statewide general election (even-numbered years in November). The City Council is comprised of a mayor and four council members who serve in four-year terms and may be reelected without limit. Beginning with the November 2020 election, Mayor will continue to serve at-large while council members serve by districts.
