Mission

The mission of the City of Westminster Emergency Preparedness Program is to support the preparedness, response and recovery from the next emergency or disaster. This is accomplished through collaboration and partnership with all departments, agencies, operating units, administration, neighboring jurisdictions and communities in order to save lives, protect property, safeguard the environment and support the communities of Westminster.

The key elements of the Emergency Preparedness Program are:

  • Development and maintenance of the City's Emergency Operations Plan and Continuity of Operations Plan
  • Development and maintenance of the City's Emergency Operations Center (EOC)
  • Development and maintenance of the City Local Hazard Mitigation Plan
  • Coordination of preparedness, training and exercises ensuring personnel are ready to respond to any emergency
  • Public education and outreach to the residents and businesses
  • Coordination of Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) and Radio Amateur Civil Emergency Service (RACES) programs.
